We met Nate at Wildflower Triathlon and we were instant fans. Nate's work ethic, sense of adventure, and determination inspire us. Nate is a US Army Green Beret, professional triathlete, endurance coach, and dedicated husband and father. Does it get any more impressive?!
We highly recommend reading Nate's interview below--he's a character.

Getting to know Nate
What is your sport/activity?
Triathlon / endurance coaching
How long have you been participating in your sport?
I have been riding a bike for as long as I can remember. I started mountain bike racing in high school; that was my beginning for endurance sports. It wasn't until 2006 that a friend dragged me to a local sprint triathlon and I was hooked from then on.
As far as running and swimming goes, I had to run for morning ever workouts in the Army, but never considered myself a runner until I really started training for triathlons. Swimming... Well when I first started doing triathlons all I was doing was not drowning.
What would be your perfect day?
Open water swimming in Lover's Point, Pacific Grove, cycling Asilomar and 17 mile drive, and running by the Pacific Ocean. Basically, The Triathlon at Pacific Grove.
What is your hometown?
Ha, this is a very funny question; my family and I are on an adventure right now and might soon end up in the Virgin Islands. Originally I am from New Hampshire. A tiny town called Mont Vernon.
What is your perfect post-race meal/favorite food?
Right now I am hooked on ProBars! They make a killer post workout bar, the Cookie Dough Base Bar. Also their Cherry Chocolate Bite bar is pretty rockin'!
Usually right when I cross the finish line of an event I'm completely depleted on blood sugar though and the very first thing I look for is an ice cold soda. I've grabbed the beer right after the line before, but unfortunately the stomach needs a bit more time to settle before starting the after party.
Virgo, but I don't buy into horoscopes and predictions.
When I’m not (running/riding/training/etc), I am…..
Right now I'm not biking or running due to a stress fracture so I'm swimming. I also spend quite a bit of time working with my athletes, hanging out with my family (Jen, Kaden, and our two furry beasts). We're outside all the time grilling, playing at the river, cocktail hour, basically enjoying life.
If I'm not doing something tri or family related it's probably because I'm away working with the military; I still maintain service with 19th Special Forces Group.
Go to outfit?
I only own one pair of jeans. I'm usually in Ranger panties and a t-shirt. If you don't know what Ranger panties are, get on the Google machine and prepare to be wowed.
I never leave home without my…
Water bottle! I'm always thirsty.
Coolest place you've ever been?
North East Kingdom Vermont! I think I saw 30 something below zero there a few years ago.
I also did a deployment to the Southern Philippines a few years ago. A little hotter, but one of the coolest places I've been; a real eye opener culturally.
When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
Professional mountain biker or big mountain skier.
What can you not live without?
Morning coffee; I am absolutely useless without a morning jolt.
My motto is:
Luck favors the bold!
In 10 years what do you want to be?
Coaching amateur athletes and hopefully I'll still have functional knees and be racing. I'd also like to be settled in to a long term location with my family.
I'm excited to be a part of Team Zealios because...
Well, I was sold on Zealios' products the very first time I tried them out; I was out racing all day and crossed the finish line without the slightest burn. As well, I wasn't greasy, sticky, didn't have burning sunscreen in my eyes. I was blown away by the products.
Next began talking with the employees and founders of Zealios and they have all been great. They are a honest, hard working, salt of the earth group and it's a pleasure every time we talk. Partnering with Zealios is going to be an amazing addition to my training and racing and I am looking forward to a great relationship.
